Woodrow Wilson “Woody” Guthrie hører til de helt store navne inden for den amerikanske folkmusik, og den 14. juli næste år er det hundrede år siden Guthrie blev født. Selvom han døde tilbage i 1967, så er Guthrie ikke glemt, og 2012 vil blive fejret som året hvor Guthrie ville have blevet 100.
Derfor er der både film, bøger og cd’er på vej. Et af de mere spændende albums, der er på vej, er et projekt af Jay Farrar, Jim James, Will Johnson og Anders Parker. De fire er gået sammen om at udgive et album med hidtil uudgivet Guthrie-materiale. Farrar har tidligere lavet sange af Jack Kerouac-passager fra Big Sur sammen med Death Cab For Cuties Ben Gibbard.
Derudover vil Billy Braggs og Wilcos rigtig gode The Mermaid Avenue-blive genudgivet i en boks med en ekstra cd. Ligeledes er der et album med titlen Note of Hope med kunstnere som Lou Reed, Jackson Browne, Tom Morello og Ani DiFranco på vej. På sidstnævnte album vil kunstnerne lave sange af uudgivne Guthrie-tekster.
